a. The Great Pyramid of Giza (Egypt) – The only one of the original seven wonders that still exists today, this massive pyramid was built as a tomb for the Pharaoh Khufu and is the largest of the three pyramids at Giza.

b. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon (Mesopotamia, modern-day Iraq) – These legendary terraced gardens were said to be an architectural marvel with lush plants and trees, though their existence is debated by historians.

c. The Statue of Zeus at Olympia (Greece) – A gigantic statue of the god Zeus, crafted by the renowned Greek sculptor Phidias.

d. The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus (Turkey) – A grand temple dedicated to the Greek goddess Artemis, known for its striking architecture.

e. The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus (Turkey) – The Mausoleum was a tomb built for Mausolus, a satrap (governor) of the Persian Empire, and his wife Artemisia.

f. The Colossus of Rhodes (Greece) – A colossal bronze statue of the sun god Helios, which was situated at the entrance to the harbor of Rhodes.

g. The Lighthouse of Alexandria (Egypt) – Also known as the Pharos of Alexandria, this was a tall lighthouse on the island of Pharos that guided ships into the harbor of Alexandria.

The New Seven Wonders of the World: In 2007, a global poll was conducted to select the New Seven Wonders of the World, which includes notable structures from more recent history. These are not considered ancient wonders but are still impressive architectural achievements.

a. The Great Wall of China (China) – A series of fortifications and walls built to protect against invasions, the Great Wall of China is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world.

b. Petra (Jordan) – An ancient city carved into the rose-red cliffs of southern Jordan, known for its stunning rock-cut architecture.

c. Christ the Redeemer (Brazil) – The iconic statue of Jesus Christ that overlooks the city of Rio de Janeiro from the summit of Mount Corcovado.

d. Machu Picchu (Peru) – An Inca citadel located in the Andes Mountains, often referred to as the “Lost City of the Incas.”

e. Chichen Itza (Mexico) – A large pre-Columbian archaeological site featuring the famous El Castillo pyramid and other structures of the Maya civilization.

f. The Roman Colosseum (Italy) – An ancient amphitheater in the center of Rome, known for its historical and architectural significance.

g. The Taj Mahal (India) – A white marble mausoleum in Agra, India, built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
